Hi, I'm your trainer - Sara

I'm a Crocs wearing, treat bag toting, bobble hatted dog training nerd I started dog training back in 1998, and have gone on to train and compete in agility, rally obedience, scentwork and more. I have a particular passion for foundations, but also love digging into more complex training concepts.

I've been supporting learners online and in person for over a decade, and I enjoy coming up with out-of-the-box solutions.

  • Will I need to get any special equipment?
    You won't need to spend a fortune on equipment (unless you want to!) - you'll likely find that you have most of what you need around the house. I recommend Scentdog for any of the extra bits you might need - https://www.scentdog.co.uk/beginners/
  • I have a puppy/injured dog/older dog - is this training suitable for them?
    Yes! Scentwork is suitable for all ages and breed of dog - prepare to be surprised at their abilities You may need to make adjustments depending on your individual dog's physical capabilities, but I'll talk about that in the training as needed (and you can always ask questions)
  • Can I do all the training at home?
    Absolutely! In fact, you should be starting this training in a low distraction place, such as a quiet room in your house. You won't need to hunt for special places to go
  • We've already done some training searching for treats - will this course teach us anything new?
    I expect so - in this course you're going to be teaching your dog to search for a specific scent, not just treats.
  • I've already done a scentwork class - is this suitable for us?
    It's the classic dog trainer's answer here - it depends! We all do things a little differently, so one of my lessons may solve a problem that other classes haven't, or inspire you with some new exercises to try.   • How much is the course in my local currency?
